Pitcher holding flowers belonged to our grandmother Sass. She used it to pour homemade maple syrup when she managed the "County Poor Farm" in West Point, NE in the early 1920's

PLACE SETTING FOR THANKSGIVING
Pat Hunsche

I picked out these dishes in December 1964 as Bud Hunsche and I were getting married the 30th of December. My mother (Ethel Lippincott) was a great lover of dishes, and was a really good customer at Klopp's Jewelry here in Blair. I didn't like the selection of dishes at Klopp's and chose this pattern "Script" by Continental China, made in Germany, which were sold at Bette's (now Wolff's Jewelry) just down the street in Blair. This didn't make my mother too happy, but I liked the dishes at the time. I also picked out a Black Glassware . You can tell I was inexperienced with washing china and glassware, as you really have to be careful with the black color. However, we have used the dishes thru the years, and now I probably agree with my mother, they are pretty dull and color-less. However, since I learned to cook ( after getting married) and the food is on the plate, who cares what the plate looks like?? We will be celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary on 30 December 2004.
